Project LAMRAG, a community-centered disaster preparedness initiative, held a successful seminar-workshop on disaster risk reduction at SMAHE, Bato, Biliran, on October 11, 2023. Organized by Biliran Campus’ School of Teacher Education (BilCam-STED) in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) of Bato, the event brought together 14 participants from the local community to strengthen their understanding of disaster resilience.

The program focused on teaching practical skills and strategies in disaster risk management, equipping community members with the knowledge needed to respond effectively to natural hazards. Participants engaged in hands-on exercises on emergency response, hazard assessment, and community-based resilience practices. By empowering residents with these essential skills, Project LAMRAG aims to build a safer, more prepared community.

A BLGU-Bato representative highlighted the program’s significance, stating, “This workshop not only prepares us for disasters but also unites us in our mission to protect our community.”

Project LAMRAG continues to be a vital step in fostering a culture of preparedness and resilience within Biliran’s vulnerable communities.
